What music genres will I focus one?

1. Solo Acoustic:

I enjoy listening to solo acoustic based music as you can really feel the artists emotions and thoughts being portrayed through the lyrics. This gives the song real depth and meaning to me and the audience, although sometimes the lyrics may just be for the artist they can still give the audience an insight into what they are feeling. Many of these songs may not be the happiest songs on the world but they do come across as beautiful to me, allowing me to sink away into the bed which I lay in.

The artist on the left hand side is named Beans On Toast (Jay McAllister). He is a singer song writer from Essex and mostly sings by himself with a guitar and a speaker. His songs are seen to be very controversial and have caused somewhat a stir with some more local tabloids. For example his song about Prince Harry, where he slates the monarchy. However it is his personal opinion and that's the reason I enjoy his music, as he does not care what anyone thinks as long as he is happy in what he sings.  Bob Dylan is another one of my favourites even though his music does cover many genres, it is hard to pin-point one defining genre for him so I’ll put him here. His music is to the heart and meaningful not just to him but to his audience, who are not anarchist or reck'heads, instead ordinary people who just want a nice chilled time with their friends and families.

2. Ska-punk:
Ska-punk is another favourite of mine as it is so jazzy and fun, it makes you want to get up and dance as you travel back in time with the band. One of my most enjoyable bands would be Madness (probably who I will be using for my music video) this is as their music is so happy and individual, and not many other people would of heard of it before, if it wasn't for the 'Our House' musical who I personally think did not do the music much justice. Madness's music videos are very eye catching and really representative of the band itself, therefore showing what they are all about.
I also enjoy listening to the Specials who are similar to Madness but completely different in their own way. This is as of the nature of their music being quite political at times, and the fact it really spoke to some of the 'skin-head' audience of the time. This music has been enjoyed throughout the years with one of their more famous tunes 'Ghost Town', which has the narrative of the fact that night life and clubbing is dying out for the youngsters. This therefore meant people could relate to them.

The music of this time was very jolly and uplifting for the audience and allowed people to connect through dance and words. This is why it was such a popular genre of music, as it is very hard to dislike it jazzy tune, and meaningful lyrics.

3. British rock and roll:

There are not many British rock and roll artists that I can easily listen to on the move apart from the great Ian Dury, who changed music for the better not caring what critics thought, instead sung what he felt. Many of his music is not favored by a large amount of people however the ones that do love him. As his music is so different lets say and all together random, and that's what I love about the music. Most of his music is about past events in life but in put in a comical way for the audience to dance and laugh to.

Ian Dury was diagnosed will Polio at a very young age and this influenced his music to be jolly, not caring about the reviews of poxy critics. His music is a bit of everything really, as he incorporates jazz, rock, punk, ska and many more this then gave his music a very different feel and meant every track was slightly different to the next, allowing such a huge variety.

The Beatles are not always seemed to be rock and rollers, however they are classed as classic British rock and roll. This is as they have truly influenced countless bands throughout the last 60 years of the music industry, for example even Kasabian with their less heard of song 'La Fee Verte' which has many concepts from the Beatles. I love listening to the Beatles as of their calm and uplifting music, which is so iconic and recognizable for everyone.

I also thoroughly enjoy listening to Blur as their music is very upbeat and fun. This goes hand in hand with their music videos which at some points seem to very strange but somehow work with the lyrics nicely, sometimes the music does not seem to be that upbeat but then throughout the song it then picks up and becomes more jolly and cheerful.
Blur have their own way of making their music so different and fun, and this is by having not just singing but also just shouting 'lads out and about' etc. This then makes the music more gritty and does not keep in line with classic music guidelines of big American Pop stars.

Although Blur may not seem to everyone that they are classic British rock and roll, which in fact they are not really but they are an iconic band and I find their music some of the best around.
